What is UIL??? University Interscholastic League (UIL) Concert & Sight-reading Contest is a full choir contest that takes place in April of each year. The contest is broken into two components - Concert and Sight-Reading. In the concert portion of the competition, each choir performs three music selections. This performance is followed by a sight-reading portion where each choir must study then perform a completely unfamiliar piece of music in a short period of time. Choir receive comment sheets and audio recordings in each of the two categories when they receive their division ratings in each category. Ratings for this contest consist of the following: Division I - Superior, Division II - Excellent, Division III - Average, Division IV, Below Average, Division V, Poor. Parents and other family members are strongly encouraged to come and support the choir when they perform at UIL.
