Greetings, Carroll Choir Family!

It is amazing the amount of work we have accomplished in the 5 short weeks we have been in school!  I am so very excited to present our Fall Preview Concert!!!  Here are some details for next Wednesday.

What: Fall Preview Concert
When: Wednesday, October 4th
Time: 7:00 pm (House opens at 6:45 pm)
Where: Carroll Senior High School Auditorium
Choir Attire: Formal Choir Uniform

Pictures will be taken before the concert.  Please be on time.  Failure to arrive on time will result in you not being featured in your choir's picture.  :-( 

There is a fast turn around before the next audition.  You should be preparing on your own! Please start working on the second round audition pieces.  This round will be about who is the best musician.  Please pay attention to all musical elements in your preparation!  We will have sectionals this week, please see the attached schedule.  After this week, all sessions will be individual times.  Please take advantage of the one-on-one preparation time!  You are expected to have at least 2 one-on-one sessions each week they are offered until October 21st.​

1. Practice each day
2. Attend sectionals
3. Sign up for individual time with directors. (Sign up sheets will be on the choir office door by Friday.)
4. Work with your voice teacher.

                                                               Saturday, September 23, 2017
                                                                     Creekview High School

WHEN: There will not be a bus to transport students to and from the audition.  Parents are responsible for making sure students get to and from the auditions.  Students that are signed up to audition for ALTO or BASS need to meet at Creekview High School by 7:25 am.  Please do not be late.  Students that are signed up to audition for SOPRANO or TENOR need to meet at Creekview High School by 12:00 pm.  Please do not be late. These are firm arrival times, please do not be late!

ATTIRE FOR THE DAY:   Sunday best!               
GUYS: nice shirt (polo/button down) and pants/slacks
GIRLS: nice pants, skirt, or dress
No t-shirts, jeans, tennis shoes, shorts, sweatshirts, hats/caps, sloppy dress, etc.

CHECKLIST TO BRING:
1.YOUR MUSIC - ORIGINAL scores only!!! (Make sure your measures are numbered!)
2. Pencil & paper clips
3. Snacks/food/drinks/spending money for concessions
4. Cards, homework, games, coloring books, or anything else NON-electronic to keep yourselves occupied while waiting to audition!

ELECTRONICS:
Absolutely NO cell phones, iPods, CD players, iPads, instruments, or any other communication devices are allowed in the building at any time during the auditions (this includes pitch pipes, guitars, etc). Violation of this rule may result in disqualification. If you MUST bring a cell phone to call for a ride, it should stay in the phone bank during the audition.

REGION AUDITIONS – If you make District…  please remember that Region Round is on October 21st @ Colleyville Heritage High School!!!  Music for Region auditions will be handed out on Monday, September 25th and Tracks are already available on our website.  The 3 Region audition pieces are La Danza - Rossini (Women), O Vos Omnes - Casals (Men), I am Loved - Harris (ALL), Gloria, Mvt 1 and 3 - Poulenc (ALL)

​Greetings!!
Choir uniforms will  be checked out to the students this week!  Students are responsible for the maintenance of that uniform throughout the rental period. At the conclusion of each school year, students will turn in uniforms to be cleaned and inventoried for the next year. If a uniform is lost or permanently damaged, students will be expected to cover the cost of a replacement. At the end of the year, if a student has not turned in their uniform or paid for a replacement, their grade will be held as incomplete. Rented items should NOT be permanently altered. Please do not cut any material on rented uniforms.

*Black Concert Dress (If the dress needs hemming, please do not cut the dress.  Hem should be just shy of touching the floor while wearing shoes.)

Choir uniforms will be worn at our Fall Concert, Wednesday, October 4th at 7:00 PM in the auditorium of Carroll Senior High School.  We are looking forward to seeing you there! 

                                                               Region 31 Ninth/Tenth Grade Honor Choir Information
                                                                                 Monday, October 23, 2017
                                                                                       Birdville High School
                                                                                                  5:00 PM
 
The Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) provides a wonderful opportunity for our 9th/10th Grade Choir students with the 9th/10th Grade Honor Choir.  It will help build confidence, increase their music literacy, build their vocal production, prepare them for the highly competitive All-State Auditions and introduce them to choir friends from across our region! I highly encourage all 9th/10th Grade Students to take part in this competitive, but fun process!
 
How does this work?

2. Pick up the 2 audition pieces from the choir office.
3. Practice the music using the rehearsal tracks located on our website. http://www.dragonchoirs.net/910-honor-choir-recordings.html
4. Attend before/after school or lunch rehearsals with one of the directors.
5. Sign up for a Mock Audition to prepare for the actual audition.
   1. Sign up sheets for Individual Mock Audition will be on the Choir Room Office Door the week of 9/25
   2. Mock Auditions will be 10/5 or 10/6 (Students will sign up for an individual time.)
6. After the Mock Audition, students will continue to prepare the music and work with the directors until the actual audition.
7. October 23rd is the actual audition at Birdville HS.
   • Registration begins at 5:00 PM
   • Auditions should finish by 9:00 PM
8. If your student makes it into the 9/10 Honor Choir
   • They will receive 2 more pieces of music to learn.
   • Attend a Clinic Friday, November 10th at Trinity HS from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM (Transportation is provided.)
   • Attend a Choir Clinic Saturday, November 11th at Richland HS from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM
   • Present a Concert at 4:00 PM at Richland HS!
9. Students who audition and make the Honor Choir will also receive a patch that can be placed on their letterman jacket!

Reminders

1. Please arrive 10 minutes early for your mock audition.
2. Have your music in order of the track.
3. Walk in, state your name and auditioning voice part.
4. When you finish, leave and ask the next person to step in the room.
5. Comment sheets will be available Friday, September 15th.
6. This is the MOCK audition, please keep practicing your part!!
