Kristen Martin is a versatile, classically-trained singer and pianist with over 30 years of teaching experience. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education in vocal music from Centenary College of Louisiana and a Master of Educational Administration from LSU. Kristen’s diverse musical background includes music theater (both performing and directing), opera, studio recording, television, contemporary Christian music, and church music. Her performance credits include the Fort Worth Opera, Lyric Stage, Regal Opera Company, Watertower Theatre, Continental Singers tour, and numerous local theaters.
Kristen has played a significant role in advancing music education through her leadership and service. She served seven years as Audition Chair on the board of directors for the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), where she continues as the webmaster. She is also an active member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), serving as the publications chair and a member of the scholarship committee, as well as the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA).
In addition to her extensive professional involvement, Kristen has been a choir director in public schools in Louisiana and Texas, consistently guiding her students to achieve high honors. Her students regularly become finalists in NATS competitions and earn spots in the prestigious Texas All-State Choir. Kelly Himes is a highly experienced voice teacher specializing in vocal health, rehabilitation, and training, with over 30 years of service in the North Texas area. She works across a variety of genres, focusing primarily on developing high school voices in classical music and musical theatre. Her background in music is diverse, having originally trained as a classical pianist before transitioning to voice and performance.
Kelly holds a BA in Speech and Drama from UTA and an MS in Speech and Hearing Sciences from UNT. She’s also a licensed speech pathologist and certified in Somatic VoiceWork™ – The LoVetri Method. Since 1999, Kelly has taught students in area schools and her private studio, with many achieving success in top-tier college programs and national competitions. She’s served as a vocal coach for over 20 musicals and directed productions like “In The Heights” and “Hairspray.” Her students have earned awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singing and accolades in various vocal competitions.
